This is the profound Heart Sutra from the Buddhist tradition. The sutra translates as
"Gone gone, all the way over, gone to the other shore of enlightenment.
Gate, itself, implies ending suffering, liberation, mindfulness, ending duality, reaching the other shore (enlightenment, nirvana, etc.). Paragate implies going all the way to the other shore – becoming enlightened. Parasamgate implies the the world-wide sangha or the entire human community. Bodhi is the light inside, and Svaha means joy.

Composed by the great sage Adi Shankara in the 8th century. The story goes that when Shankara was eight years old, he encountered the seer Govinda Bhagavatpada. Govinda asked Shankara, "Who are you?", to which he answered with these six stanzas.
The knowledge of 'Shivoham' (I am Shiva) is a core concept in Kashmir Shaivism. One of the techniques of Kashmir Shaivism is to focus on a pure thought that corresponds to the truth, such as "I am Siva".
I am not mind, intellect, ego or memory;
not ears or tongue or smell or sight;
not ether, air, fire, water or earth..
I am consciousness and bliss.
I am Shiva! I am Shiva!
I am not virtue or vice, pleasure or pain;
not mantra, sacred place, scripture or sacrifice;
not the food, the eater or the act of eating.
I am consciousness and bliss.
I am Shiva! I am Shiva!
I am beyond all things.
I am everlasting, self-luminous,
taintless, and completely pure;
immovable, blissful and imperishable.
I am without thought, without form;
I am all pervasive, I am beyond all senses;
not detachment or salvation or
anything that could be measured.
I am consciousness and bliss.
I am Shiva! I am Shiva!
Joss Jaffe chants Guru Om
Guru Om
Guru Om is a succinct, powerful mantra used in meditation and devotional practice to invoke guidance, clarity, and upliftment. It combines two Sanskrit elements: "Guru," meaning teacher, remover of darkness, or that which dispels ignorance; and "Om" (Aum), the primordial sound representing universal consciousness, the vibration underlying all experience.
Meaning and intention
Guru: Calls in the principle of inner guidance, the living presence or awakened intelligence that reveals truth and dissolves confusion. It can refer to an external teacher, a lineage, or—more commonly in meditation—a turning inward to the inner teacher: the heart of wisdom within you.
Om: Serves as a vibrational anchor. Chanting or silently repeating Om aligns attention with the body-mind’s subtle field, stabilizes the nervous system, and connects personal awareness to a larger, nondual reality.
Effects and benefits
Mental clarity: Regular practice reduces mental fog, habitual reactivity, and self-doubt by reorienting attention toward presence.
Emotional balance: The vibrational quality of Om with the stabilizing directive of Guru soothes anxiety and cultivates steadiness.
Deepening insight: The mantra supports access to intuitive knowing and makes it easier to recognize habitual patterns and unconscious beliefs.
Spiritual alignment: For those pursuing awakening or self-realization, Guru Om functions as both invocation and reminder of the inseparability of guidance and universal consciousness.
Its strength lies in its directness: a call to the inner teacher amplified by the universal vibration of Om, offering a practical doorway to clarity, calm, and deeper self-knowledge
Joss Jaffe chants Om Mani Padme Hum
Om Mani Padme Hum is a six-syllable Buddhist mantra widely used in Tibetan Buddhism. It is often chanted, recited, or written on prayer wheels, flags, and stones. The phrase is in Sanskrit, meaning "Hail to the jewel in the lotus" or "Praise to the jewel in the lotus."
Meaning and symbolism
Om: a sacred sound representing the body, speech, and mind of the practitioner or the universal vibration; often associated with purification and the essence of the divine.
Mani: "jewel" or "bead," symbolizing compassion, altruistic intention, and the wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.
Padme: "lotus," a symbol of wisdom and the ability to remain unstained by ignorance, like a lotus rising from the mud.
Hum: a syllable signifying indivisibility, the union of method (compassion) and wisdom, and the grounding of the mantra’s power in action.
Om Mani Padme Hum embodies compassion and wisdom.
Joss Jaffe chants Ganesha Sharanam
Ganesha Sharanam — a mantra invoking Lord Ganesha for removal of obstacles, clarity, and support at the start of endeavors.
Ganesha: the Hindu deity often invoked as the remover of obstacles and the patron of beginnings, wisdom, and clarity.
Sharanam: refuge, shelter, surrender.
Om Ganeshaya Namah: “I bow to Lord Ganesha” / “Salutations to Ganesha.” Together, these mantras express surrender to the guiding presence that clears the way and steadies the mind.
Joss Jaffe chants Om Gam Ganapataye
Om Gam Ganapataye Namah
"Om" is the primal sound, representing universal consciousness.
"Gam" is the bija (seed) mantra of Ganesha, associated with removal of obstacles and activation of the root energy that grounds spiritual practice.
"Ganapataye" is a vocative form meaning "to Lord Ganesha" or "to the remover of obstacles."
"Namah" means "I bow" or "salutations."
Put together, Om Gam Ganapataye Namah is an invocation: "I bow to Lord Ganesha," or "Salutations to the remover of obstacles." It is traditionally chanted at the start of spiritual practices, rituals, or endeavors to invite clarity, remove hindrances, and create a steady foundation.
