The Hare Krishna mantra (also called the Maha Mantra, meaning "Great Mantra") is a devotional chant, consisting of the repetition of three Sanskrit names of the Divine:
Hare Rama, Hare Rama,
Rama Rama, Hare Hare
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna,
Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
"Hare" is vocative of Hara, often interpreted as the divine energy or the feminine aspect of God (Radha), while "Krishna" and "Rama" are names of God—Krishna meaning “the all-attractive” and Rama meaning “the source of pleasure.” Together the mantra is a direct invocation of and appeal to the Divine and Divine energy for divine love and service.
