You can add new recordings from the TurnBeads Store either from your phone or from the website.
TurnBeads loves ‘zip’ files - so when you download a file, don’t unzip it first.
From your Phone…
Most often, simply open the email receipt you receive from your phone and click the links for download. The files will automatically be put in the right place for TurnBeads to find them. Just click the button Add A Store Purchase under the Get More tab and you’ll be all set.
In some cases, the tips you find below will help.

iPhone iOS Help Ideas
The usual best answer for iPhone problem resolution:
No matter which app your file ends up in — Gmail, Google Drive, Mail, anywhere — look for a "Save to Files" option in its Share menu. That's the one universal step that gets any file into a place Turn Beads can always see.
-
TurnBeads looks in Files ‘Recent’ section. If for any reason your file isn’t there:
click the button on the bottom in Files called BROWSE
Tap DOWNLOADS
Downloads can either be on your phone or within iCloud Drive - depending on how you’ve set up Safari. Look both places or open Settings → Safari → Downloads if you're not sure.
Still don't see it? If you use Gmail, or saved the file into Google Drive or another cloud service, it may not be in Downloads at all — see "My files are on Google Drive or another cloud service" below.
-
If you use Mail (the blue icon), when you click the download link it puts it in the iPhone app called FILES.
If you are working with these soon after your purchase, these will show up under Recents within Files.
If some time has passed they may not be the most recent things, so you’ll find them under Downloads.
Turn Beads is set to look under Recents within Files. -
Gmail has its own built-in browser for opening links, and it doesn't always handle downloads the same predictable way Safari does. Do these steps:
In the Gmail app, long-press (don't tap) each .zip link
Choose Copy Link
Open the Safari app (not Gmail's browser)
Tap the address bar, paste, and go
This will then use Safari’s reliable downloading and will put the recordings into Files where TurnBeads can easily find them.
This same trick works for Outlook, Yahoo Mail, or any other email app too.
This will work for each individual file - but you can also set it up so it will work every time in the future automatically. Do this:
Gmail app → Settings (gear icon) → General Settings → toggle off "Open links with In-App Browser."Once that's off, tapping any link in Gmail opens Safari automatically.
——-
If you already downloaded the file using Gmail’s own browser, it may have encouraged you to “Save To Drive’. You actually have to click ‘More’ to find the button ‘Save to Files’. If you put it into Drive - see the next section for Google Drive -
The universal fix: "Save to Files" works the same way everywhere.
Open the Google Drive app
Find the file — tap the ⋮ (three dots) next to it, don't tap the file itself (that just previews it)
Choose Send a copy (sometimes labeled "Share" → "Send a copy," depending on Drive's version)
In the share sheet that appears, tap Save to Files
Choose On My iPhone and tap Save
Open Turn Beads → What Plays → Get More → Add a Store Purchase — the file should now be sitting right at the top under Recents
-
There are some situations when the download never actually completed. Check this out:
Maybe you tapped the link, Safari opened, and you:
saw a landing/confirmation page and assumed that was the file (never tapping an actual "Download" button/prompt), or
saw Safari's native download confirmation banner/prompt and dismissed it without realizing that's what triggers the save.
What to do:
Go back to the email, tap the link again, and this time watch closely for Safari's download banner at the top — tap it to confirm the download before doing anything else.
-
If you go into Files before letting TurnBeads import your file, and end up tapping the file in its zipped up form, it will unzip.
Don’t worry. Check if the original .zip file is still sitting in the same folder — unzipping usually keeps it. Just delete the unzipped folder and TurnBeads will still work with the zipped folder.
If the original .zip file is gone, select the unzipped folder in Files, long-press, and choose Compress to make a new zip, then import that as usual. (Just make sure nothing was deleted from inside the folder first. There is a small file called tb-manifest.json included with each zip that is not junk, so don’t toss it. Compress it along with the other audio files and let TurnBeads import that new zip).If the file still won't import after this, it likely needs a fresh download from your original purchase email.
-
If you’ve bought several recordings at the same time, you’ll need to:
click each download link - one at a time - from your email reciept, giving each time to fully download
within TurnBeads, go to Get More > Add A Store Purchase for each individual recording. This button will only bring in one recording at a time, so you repeat this step for each of your purchases.
-
You always have access to the recordings you bought, so if you want a fresh run at downloading now that you’ve read how it works, or if your original email links expired because it’s more than 24 hours after you purchase - do this:
Go to the bottom of this website page and look for YOUR ACCOUNT. Use that to sign in with the same name and email you used to buy the recordings.
Then click on the big button at the bottom ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
Choose ORDERS.
There you see all your recordings. Each has a download link.
If you’re on your computer, watch the second movie above to see how to bring these over to your phone. If you’re on your phone, just use Safari to download them, or make sure you choose Save to Files if you’re on another browser.
And of course - if you’re STILL stuck - don’t hesitate to reach out. Click the Contact link at the bottom of this page.
